As an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Sawyer combines an interest in innovation with her expertise in Orthopedics, Physical Therapy, and Exercise Physiology to provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care. As Director of the UCSF Skeletal Health Service she is dedicated to optimizing bone health across the lifespan and prevention of falls and fractures. She is also co-developing a safe early-mobility device (Mobi-us) and monitoring suite.
Dr. Sawyer is a leader in digital health initiatives at UCSF as Associate Director of the UCSF Center for Digital Health Innovation (CDHI) and Associate Director of the Digital Health track in the CTSI Catalyst accelerator. She is Co-founder of Trinity, a HIPAA compliant, web-based collaboration technology for multidisciplinary management (MDM) of complex patients. In addition she participates in Telemedicine development at UCSF and is on the NIH CTSA TSIG Telehealth committee. Dr. Sawyer is an Adviser to Rock Health, UCSF Lean Launch Pad, and MATTER Center for Assistive Technology.
As an ‘Expedition Medic’ for world-record ocean rowers, she employs remote sensing/communication systems to provide medical oversight. Partnering with Archinoetics she co-developed an early wearable body sensor network designed to assess multiple physiologic responses to real life demands.
